Final Inspiration Lab: Creative Dance Class

On Thursday, we held our fifth and last Inspiration Lab workshop. I have to admit I was a little unsure of how it would go, just because I know nothing about dance or how to be creative with movement. It seemed totally foreign to me. But I am so glad I put my trust in Nan Cresto, a professional dancer and yoga instructor.

We learned some pretty funky, different things—ways to move our bodies that I never would have dreamed or expected. In fact, we started by learning a routine entirely on the floor! By the end, we were all moving as if it were easy to  express ourselves through our bodies—without forethought, without judgment. I don’t think I have ever felt so connected to my body, even after years of yoga and hiking and biking and climbing. I truly felt like it was an instrument of self-expression, like a pen or a paintbrush.

Anyway, enough waxing on. I am a bit wistful that we are done with our first Inspiration Lab series, but (by popular demand!) we very well might do it again, new and improved. Many thanks to all of our awesome teachers and terrific cast of students. Join us next time and stay tuned!
